Construction Helper Job Description

A Construction Helper provides support to skilled tradespeople and construction workers by performing general labor tasks on construction sites. They help prepare work areas, transport materials, operate basic hand and power tools, clean job sites, and assist with installing and repairing structures. Construction Helpers work under the supervision of experienced workers such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and masons to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently. They also help load and unload materials, set up equipment, remove debris, and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Their role is essential in keeping construction projects running smoothly while following safety regulations and company procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist skilled tradespeople with construction tasks.
  • Load, unload, and move construction materials.
  • Prepare and clean construction sites.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely.
  • Set up and dismantle equipment and temporary structures.
  • Remove debris and maintain a clean work area.
  • Follow supervisors’ instructions and safety procedures.
  • Support construction activities as needed to meet project deadlines.

  • Set up, program and operate one or more computerized or manual woodworking machines
  • Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components
