Truck Driver Job Description
A Truck Driver is responsible for transporting goods, materials, and equipment safely and efficiently to various destinations. They operate commercial trucks while following traffic laws, company policies, and transportation regulations to ensure deliveries are completed on time and in good condition. Truck Drivers inspect their vehicles before and after each trip, plan efficient routes, secure cargo properly, and maintain accurate delivery and transportation records. They may also assist with loading and unloading goods, communicate with dispatchers and customers, and report any vehicle issues or delays. Truck Drivers play a vital role in the supply chain by ensuring the safe and timely movement of products across local, regional, or long-distance routes.
Main Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial trucks safely and efficiently.
- Transport goods and materials to designated locations.
- Inspect vehicles before and after trips to ensure roadworthiness.
- Secure cargo and ensure safe loading and unloading.
- Maintain delivery logs, mileage records, and transportation documents.
- Follow traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, or delivery delays.
- Communicate with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules.
Important Skills:
A successful Truck Driver should have excellent driving skills, knowledge of commercial vehicle regulations, strong time management and route planning abilities, attention to detail, good communication and customer service skills, problem-solving abilities, physical stamina, and the ability to work independently. Reliability, responsibility, basic vehicle maintenance knowledge, and a strong commitment to safe driving practices are also essential for success in this role.

- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
