Server – Food and Beverage Services Job Description
A Server – Food and Beverage Services is responsible for providing excellent customer service by taking food and beverage orders, serving meals and drinks, and ensuring guests have an enjoyable dining experience. They greet customers, explain menu items, answer questions, make recommendations, and accurately communicate orders to the kitchen and bar staff. Servers deliver food and beverages promptly, check on customers during their meals, process payments, and maintain clean dining areas. They also ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards while working closely with other team members to provide efficient and professional service. Servers work in restaurants, hotels, cafés, bars, and other food service establishments.
Main Responsibilities:
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional service.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately.
- Serve meals and drinks promptly and efficiently.
- Answer questions and recommend menu items.
- Process customer payments and issue receipts.
- Maintain clean and organized dining areas.
- Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely service.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations.
Important Skills:
A successful Server should have excellent customer service and communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, attention to detail, multitasking skills, time management, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
Tasks
- Must be of legal age to mix and serve alcoholic beverages
- Present bills to customers and accept payment in cash, credit or debit cards, travellers cheques or room billings
- Describe menu items including daily specials for customers
- Advise on menu selections
- Balance cash and record sales
- Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs
- Describe and advise on wine selection
- Greet patrons, present menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding food and beverages
- Serve food and beverages
- Take orders and relay to kitchen and bar staff
- Provide customer service
