Handyman/Woman – Agriculture Job Description
A Handyman/Woman – Agriculture is responsible for performing general maintenance, repair, and support tasks to keep farm buildings, equipment, and agricultural facilities in good working condition. They repair fences, barns, gates, irrigation systems, machinery, and other farm structures while assisting with basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work. They also inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot minor faults, and ensure that tools and machinery are safe and operational. In addition to maintenance duties, they may assist with general farm work, seasonal tasks, and the upkeep of outdoor areas. Their role is essential in supporting efficient farm operations and maintaining a safe working environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Repair and maintain farm buildings, fences, gates, and other structures.
- Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
- Inspect and carry out preventive maintenance on farm equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair minor equipment faults.
- Maintain irrigation systems and other farm utilities.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
- Assist with general farm maintenance and seasonal tasks as required.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Important Skills:
A successful Handyman/Woman – Agriculture should have strong maintenance and repair skills, basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and good organizational skills. Physical strength and stamina, time management, adaptability, teamwork, reliability, and a strong commitment to workplace safety are also essential for supporting efficient agricultural operations.
