Baler Worker Job Description
A Baler Worker is responsible for operating and maintaining baling machines that compress recyclable materials such as cardboard, paper, plastic, metal, or waste into compact bales for storage, transportation, or recycling. They sort materials, load balers, monitor machine performance, and ensure that bales are properly tied, labeled, and stored according to company procedures. Baler Workers also inspect equipment for faults, perform basic maintenance, keep the work area clean, and follow workplace safety regulations. They work in recycling facilities, warehouses, manufacturing plants, and waste management companies, helping improve efficiency and reduce waste through proper material handling and recycling practices.
Main Responsibilities:
- Operate baling machines safely and efficiently.
- Sort and prepare recyclable or waste materials for baling.
- Load materials into the baler and monitor machine operation.
- Tie, label, and store finished bales for transportation.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors.
Important Skills:
A successful Baler Worker should have the ability to operate machinery safely, good physical strength and stamina, attention to detail, basic mechanical knowledge, problem-solving skills, time management, and the ability to follow instructions. Teamwork, reliability, awareness of workplace safety procedures, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced industrial or warehouse environment are also essential for success in this role.

- Transport items throughout plant using powered equipment
- Transport raw materials, finished products and equipment throughout plant manually
- Sort, pack, crate and package materials and products
- Assist machine operators, assemblers and other workers
- Perform other labouring and elemental activities
- Clean machines and immediate work areas
