Drywall Installer Job Description
A Drywall Installer is responsible for installing, repairing, and finishing drywall panels on walls and ceilings in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. They measure and cut drywall sheets to fit specific spaces, secure panels to metal or wooden frames, and prepare surfaces for taping, mudding, sanding, and painting. Drywall Installers read blueprints and construction plans, use hand and power tools, and ensure all installations meet building codes and quality standards. They also repair damaged drywall, patch holes and cracks, and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Their work is essential in creating smooth, durable interior walls and ceilings for new construction and renovation projects.
Main Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, and install drywall panels.
- Secure drywall to wall and ceiling frameworks.
- Read blueprints and follow construction specifications.
- Repair damaged drywall and patch holes or cracks.
- Prepare surfaces for finishing by ensuring proper installation.
- Operate hand and power tools safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow workplace health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities
Tasks
- Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
- Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
- Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
- Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets
- Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
- Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound
