Personal support worker – nursing care needed in Canada by Right at Home Mississauga North In Home Care
A personal support worker (nursing care) provides personal care and daily living assistance to individuals who are elderly, ill, disabled, or recovering from illness or surgery, helping them maintain their comfort, health, and independence under the supervision of healthcare professionals when required.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Help with mobility, transfers, and safe positioning.
- Assist with feeding, meal preparation, and medication reminders as directed.
- Monitor and report changes in a client’s condition to nurses or supervisors.
- Support clients with daily living activities and companionship.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
- Document care provided and follow individual care plans.
- Follow infection prevention, health, and safety procedures.

Tasks
- Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities
- Perform other duties related to personal care
- Take patients’ blood pressure, temperature and pulse
- Serve meal trays and feed patients
- Weigh, lift, turn and position patients
- Make beds and maintain patients’ rooms
- Supervise patients’ exercise routines
- Maintain inventory of supplies
- Bathe, dress and groom patients
- Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher
- Administer first aid in emergency situations
