Construction Helper Job Description
A Construction Helper assists skilled tradespeople and construction crews by performing general labor tasks that support building, renovation, and maintenance projects. They prepare construction sites, transport and organize materials, operate basic hand and power tools, and help with installing, repairing, and assembling structures. Construction Helpers work under the direction of supervisors and experienced tradespeople such as carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and masons. They are also responsible for cleaning work areas, removing debris, setting up equipment, and ensuring materials and tools are readily available. By following safety procedures and supporting daily site operations, Construction Helpers help keep construction projects running efficiently and on schedule.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist skilled workers with construction and installation tasks.
- Load, unload, and transport building materials and equipment.
- Prepare and clean construction sites before and after work.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely.
- Set up scaffolding, ladders, and other temporary equipment.
- Remove debris and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow supervisors’ instructions and comply with safety regulations.
- Support construction activities to help meet project deadlines.
Important Skills:
A successful Construction Helper should have physical strength and stamina, the ability to follow instructions, good teamwork and communication skills, basic knowledge of construction tools and materials, attention to detail, time management, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities. A strong commitment to workplace safety, reliability, willingness to learn, and the ability to work in various weather conditions are also essential for success in this role.
