Psychiatrist Job Description
A Psychiatrist is a licensed medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They assess patients through interviews, medical evaluations, and psychological assessments to develop accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans. Psychiatrists prescribe medications, provide psychotherapy when appropriate, monitor treatment progress, and coordinate care with psychologists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals. They treat a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance use disorders, and other mental health conditions. Psychiatrists also educate patients and their families about mental health, promote emotional well-being, and help patients improve their quality of life while maintaining confidentiality and professional ethical standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat mental health conditions.
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications.
- Develop individualized treatment and recovery plans.
- Provide psychotherapy or counseling when appropriate.
- Monitor patients’ progress and adjust treatments as needed.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate medical records and patient confidentiality.
- Educate patients and families about mental health and treatment options.

A successful Psychiatrist should have strong clinical and diagnostic skills, excellent communication and listening abilities, empathy and compassion, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, sound medical knowledge, decision-making abilities, emotional resilience, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to build trust with patients. Strong teamwork, ethical judgment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality mental healthcare are also essential.

- Salary: 250,000 to 400,000 annually (To be negotiated) / 30 to 50 hours per week
