Restaurant Manager Job Description

A Restaurant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a restaurant to ensure excellent customer service, efficient staff performance, and profitability. They supervise employees, coordinate work schedules, manage inventory, monitor food quality, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Restaurant Managers also handle customer concerns, recruit and train staff, monitor budgets, and implement strategies to improve sales and customer satisfaction. They work closely with chefs, kitchen staff, and front-of-house employees to ensure smooth operations and a positive dining experience. Their goal is to maintain high service standards while ensuring the restaurant operates efficiently and meets business objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant.
  • Supervise, train, and schedule staff members.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and resolve customer complaints.
  • Monitor food quality, cleanliness, and service standards.
  • Manage inventory and order food, beverages, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations.
  • Monitor budgets, control costs, and prepare operational reports.
  • Develop strategies to improve sales and customer satisfaction.

  • Develop budget to determine cost of food, ingredients, alcohol, kitchen and cleaning supplies
  • Evaluate daily operations

  • Balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports and related forms
  • Conduct performance reviews
  • Organize and maintain inventory
  • Address customers’ complaints or concerns
  • Provide customer service
