Tire Technician Job Description
A Tire Technician is responsible for inspecting, installing, repairing, rotating, balancing, and replacing tires on cars, trucks, SUVs, and other vehicles. They examine tires for wear, punctures, and damage, recommend appropriate repairs or replacements, and ensure tires are properly inflated and aligned for safe vehicle operation. Tire Technicians use specialized tools and equipment to mount and dismount tires, perform wheel balancing, and inspect wheels and related components. They also maintain a clean and organized work area, follow workplace safety procedures, and provide excellent customer service by explaining tire conditions and maintenance recommendations. Tire Technicians play an important role in ensuring vehicle safety, performance, and reliability.
Main Responsibilities:
- Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation.
- Install, remove, repair, rotate, and balance tires.
- Mount and dismount tires using specialized equipment.
- Check wheels and related components for defects.
- Recommend tire repairs or replacements when necessary.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area.
- Follow workplace safety and company procedures.
- Provide customers with tire maintenance advice and service recommendations.
Important Skills:
A successful Tire Technician should have strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of tire installation and repair techniques, attention to detail, physical strength and stamina, problem-solving abilities, good communication and customer service skills, time management, and the ability to operate tire service equipment safely. Reliability, teamwork, and a commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship are also essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
Tasks
- Add or replace hydraulic and transmission fluids
- Assist mechanics and perform other duties as directed
- Change engine oil and lubricate running gears or moving parts of automobiles, trucks or heavy equipment
- Grease booms, pulleys, buckets and other components of heavy equipment
- Install replacement mufflers, exhaust pipes, shock absorbers or radiators
- Provide on-site services
- Repair and balance tires
- Replace oil, air and fuel filters on motor vehicles, trucks and heavy equipment
