Housekeeping Room Attendant Job Description
A Housekeeping Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and preparing guest rooms and assigned areas to ensure a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment. They make beds, change linens, clean bathrooms, vacuum floors, dust furniture, replenish towels and toiletries, and report any maintenance issues or damaged items to supervisors. Housekeeping Room Attendants follow established cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards while ensuring rooms are ready for new guests on time. They may also respond to guest requests, handle lost-and-found items, and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies. Housekeeping Room Attendants commonly work in hotels, resorts, hospitals, and other accommodation facilities where cleanliness and customer satisfaction are essential.
Main Responsibilities:
- Clean and prepare guest rooms according to company standards.
- Make beds and replace linens, towels, and toiletries.
- Clean bathrooms, floors, windows, and furniture.
- Vacuum, dust, and sanitize assigned areas.
- Report maintenance issues and damaged items.
- Restock cleaning supplies and maintain equipment.
- Respond to guest requests promptly and professionally.
- Follow health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
Important Skills:
A successful Housekeeping Room Attendant should have attention to detail, good time management and organizational skills, physical stamina, reliability, and the ability to work independently. Strong communication and customer service skills, knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and hygiene standards are also essential for success in this role.

- Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
- Dust furniture
- Vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies and upholstered furniture
- Make beds and change sheets
- Distribute clean towels and toiletries
- Stock linen closet
- Clean, disinfect and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances
- Handle and report lost and found items
- Attend to guests’ requests for extra supplies or other items
- Provide basic information on facilities
- Pick up debris and empty trash containers
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
- Wash windows, walls and ceilings
- Clean changing rooms and showers
- Address customers’ complaints or concerns
