Retail Sales Clerk Job Description

A Retail Sales Clerk is responsible for assisting customers, promoting products, and ensuring a positive shopping experience in retail stores. They greet customers, answer questions, provide product information, recommend suitable items, and assist with purchases. Retail Sales Clerks also stock shelves, arrange merchandise displays, monitor inventory, process transactions using point-of-sale (POS) systems, and keep the sales floor clean and organized. They handle customer inquiries, returns, and exchanges professionally while ensuring products are properly labeled and displayed. By delivering excellent customer service and maintaining an attractive store environment, Retail Sales Clerks help increase customer satisfaction and support the store’s sales goals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Welcome customers and provide friendly, professional service.
  • Assist customers in selecting products and making purchases.
  • Process sales transactions using cash registers or POS systems.
  • Stock shelves and organize product displays.
  • Monitor inventory and replenish merchandise as needed.
  • Handle customer inquiries, returns, and exchanges.
  • Keep the sales floor clean, organized, and well-presented.
  • Follow company policies and maintain product knowledge.
