Main Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace damaged woodwork such as doors, windows, floors, staircases, and trim.
  • Restore historic or heritage buildings using traditional carpentry techniques.
  • Match existing woodwork to maintain the original design and character.
  • Install and repair wooden framing, cabinets, and other structural elements.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and accurately.
  • Read blueprints and restoration plans.

Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
