Welder Job Description

A Welder is a skilled tradesperson responsible for joining, repairing, and fabricating metal components using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-cored welding. They read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications to accurately cut, shape, and assemble metal parts for construction, manufacturing, automotive, and industrial projects. Welders inspect materials, prepare metal surfaces, operate welding equipment safely, and ensure finished welds meet quality and safety standards. They also perform equipment maintenance, inspect completed work for defects, and follow workplace health and safety regulations. Their role is essential in producing strong, durable, and high-quality metal structures and products.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications.
  • Prepare, cut, and fit metal components for welding.
  • Perform MIG, TIG, stick, or other welding processes.
  • Inspect welds and ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Repair damaged metal structures and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain welding tools and equipment safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow workplace health, safety, and welding regulations.

Important Skills:
A successful Welder should have strong welding and metal fabrication skills, attention to detail, manual dexterity, problem-solving abilities, and knowledge of welding techniques and safety procedures. The ability to read technical drawings, physical strength and stamina, time management, teamwork, and proficiency in using welding tools and equipment are also essential for producing high-quality, reliable welds.

Salary: 40.00 to 45.00 hourly (To be negotiated) / 32 hours per week

Tasks

  • Interpret welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals and processes
  • Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC)
  • Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
  • Start up, shut down, adjust and monitor robotic welding production line
  • Operate forklift

  • Pressure Welding Certification
  • Welder Trade Red Seal Certificate
