Livestock Labourer Job Description
A Livestock Labourer is responsible for assisting with the daily care and management of farm animals such as cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, and other livestock. They feed and water animals, monitor their health and behavior, clean barns, pens, and feeding areas, and help maintain a safe and hygienic environment. Livestock Labourers also assist with breeding, vaccinations, animal handling, transportation, and the maintenance of fences, equipment, and farm facilities. They inspect animals for signs of illness or injury and report concerns to supervisors while following animal welfare, biosecurity, and workplace safety regulations. Their role is essential in ensuring healthy livestock and supporting efficient farm operations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Feed, water, and care for livestock daily.
- Monitor animal health and report illness or injuries.
- Clean barns, pens, and livestock housing areas.
- Assist with animal handling, breeding, and transportation.
- Operate and maintain basic farm tools and equipment.
- Repair and maintain fences, gates, and farm facilities.
- Handle feed, bedding, and other farm supplies.
- Follow animal welfare, biosecurity, and workplace safety regulations.
