Live-in Caregiver Job Description

A Live-in Caregiver provides full-time, in-home care and support to individuals who require assistance with daily living due to age, illness, disability, or recovery from surgery. Living in the client’s home, they assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, medication reminders, and mobility support. They also provide companionship, emotional support, and help clients maintain a safe, comfortable, and independent lifestyle. Live-in Caregivers perform light housekeeping duties, monitor clients’ health and well-being, report changes in their condition to family members or healthcare professionals, and accompany clients to appointments or community activities when needed. Their role is essential in improving the client’s quality of life while ensuring compassionate, respectful, and personalized care.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when necessary.
  • Provide mobility assistance and support with daily activities.
  • Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and household tasks.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support.
  • Remind clients to take prescribed medications.
  • Monitor clients’ health and report any changes or concerns.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, shopping, and community activities when required.

Important Skills:
A successful Live-in Caregiver should have compassion, patience, and empathy, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
