Painter Job Description
A Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing interior and exterior surfaces of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. They prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks and holes, and applying primers to ensure a smooth and durable finish. Painters apply paint, stains, varnishes, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment while following project specifications and quality standards. They also mix and match paint colors, protect surrounding surfaces, inspect completed work for quality, and maintain painting tools and equipment. Their role is essential in enhancing the appearance, durability, and protection of buildings and structures while complying with workplace health and safety regulations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming.
- Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and protective coatings.
- Mix and match paint colors to project specifications.
- Use brushes, rollers, and spray equipment safely and effectively.
- Protect furniture, floors, and surrounding surfaces during painting.
- Inspect finished work and perform touch-ups when necessary.
- Maintain painting tools, equipment, and a clean work area.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.

A successful Painter should have strong painting and surface preparation skills, attention to detail, color matching abilities, manual dexterity, physical stamina, and knowledge of painting materials and techniques.
