Hairstylist Job Description

A Hairstylist is responsible for providing professional hair care services, including cutting, styling, coloring, treating, and maintaining clients’ hair to meet their preferences and needs. They consult with clients to understand their desired look, recommend suitable hairstyles and hair treatments, and use professional tools and products to achieve high-quality results. Hairstylists also wash and condition hair, perform chemical treatments such as coloring, perming, and relaxing, and educate clients on proper hair care and maintenance. They maintain a clean and organized workstation, sterilize tools, manage appointments, and ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and safety regulations. Their goal is to enhance clients’ appearance while delivering an excellent salon experience.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Consult with clients about hairstyles and hair treatments.
  • Cut, style, color, and treat hair according to client preferences.
  • Wash, condition, and dry hair using professional techniques.
  • Recommend hair care products and maintenance routines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation.
  • Sterilize tools and equipment after each use.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain client records.
  • Follow health, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations.

Important Skills:
A successful Hairstylist should have strong hair cutting, styling, and coloring skills, creativity, attention to detail, and excellent customer service and communication abilities. Time management, manual dexterity, knowledge of hair care products and techniques, problem-solving skills, professionalism, and the ability to build lasting relationships with clients are also essential for success in this role.

Salary: 20.00 to 26.00 hourly (To be negotiated) / 30 to 40 hours per week

Tasks

  • Advise clients on beauty care treatments
  • Book appointments
  • Cut and trim hair according to client’s instructions or preferences
  • Provide custom hair and scalp treatment
  • Shampoo customers’ hair
  • Provide other hair treatment, such as waving, straightening and tinting and also provide scalp conditioning massages
  • Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair
  • Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair
  • Suggest hair style compatible with client’s physical features and preferences
