Apprentice Motor Vehicle Mechanic Job Description
An Apprentice Motor Vehicle Mechanic works under the supervision of experienced mechanics to learn how to inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair cars, trucks, and other motor vehicles. They assist with routine vehicle servicing, including oil changes, brake inspections, tire replacements, battery checks, and engine maintenance while gaining hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems. Apprentice Motor Vehicle Mechanics use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and workshop equipment to identify faults and support repair work. They also help maintain a clean and organized workshop, follow safety procedures, and complete training programs to develop the technical skills needed to become qualified motor vehicle mechanics.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assist experienced mechanics with vehicle inspections and repairs.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations.
- Help diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely.
- Replace or repair vehicle components under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop.
- Follow workplace health and safety regulations.
- Participate in technical training and develop mechanical skills.
