Bakery Clerk Job Description

A Bakery Clerk is responsible for assisting customers, preparing and displaying bakery products, and maintaining a clean and organized bakery department. They receive, package, label, and stock fresh baked goods such as bread, cakes, pastries, cookies, and other bakery items. Bakery Clerks help customers select products, answer questions about ingredients and pricing, process special orders, and ensure displays are attractive and well-stocked. They also monitor inventory, rotate stock to maintain freshness, and follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace health regulations. By providing excellent customer service and maintaining high product quality, Bakery Clerks contribute to a positive shopping experience and the efficient operation of the bakery department.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with selecting bakery products and placing orders.
  • Package, label, and display baked goods.
  • Stock shelves and replenish bakery items as needed.
  • Monitor product freshness and rotate inventory.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bakery department and equipment.
  • Process customer purchases and special orders.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Assist with receiving and storing bakery supplies.

Important Skills:
A successful Bakery Clerk should have excellent customer service and communication skills, attention to detail, organizational and time management abilities, basic mathematical and cash-handling skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, teamwork, reliability, physical stamina, and a friendly, professional attitude are also essential for success in this role.

  • Accept cash, cheque, credit card or automatic debit payment
