Crop Farm Labourer – Harvesting Job Description
A Crop Farm Labourer – Harvesting is responsible for assisting with the harvesting, sorting, and handling of crops on farms. They pick fruits, vegetables, grains, and other agricultural products by hand or using harvesting equipment while ensuring crops are handled carefully to maintain quality. They sort, clean, pack, and load harvested produce for storage or transportation and help prepare fields before and after harvesting. Crop Farm Labourers also operate basic farm tools and equipment, maintain a clean work area, and follow safety and environmental regulations. They work closely with supervisors and other farm workers to ensure harvesting activities are completed efficiently and on schedule.
Main Responsibilities:
- Harvest crops by hand or with harvesting equipment.
- Sort, clean, and pack harvested produce.
- Load and transport crops for storage or shipment.
- Prepare fields and assist with post-harvest cleanup.
- Operate basic farm tools and equipment safely.
- Inspect harvested crops for quality and remove damaged produce.
- Maintain clean work areas and equipment.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
Important Skills:
A successful Crop Farm Labourer – Harvesting should have physical strength and stamina, the ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions, attention to detail, good teamwork and communication skills, time management, and the ability to follow instructions. Basic knowledge of harvesting techniques, reliability, adaptability, and a strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards are also essential for success in this role.
