Dairy Farm Labourer Job Description
A Dairy Farm Labourer is responsible for assisting with the daily care of dairy cattle and supporting the overall operations of a dairy farm. They feed and water livestock, milk cows using manual or automated milking equipment, clean barns and milking parlors, and monitor the health and well-being of the animals. Dairy Farm Labourers also assist with cleaning and maintaining farm equipment, handling feed and bedding, maintaining fences and farm facilities, and ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment. They follow animal welfare, biosecurity, and workplace safety regulations while working closely with farm supervisors to maintain efficient milk production and healthy livestock.
Main Responsibilities:
- Feed, water, and care for dairy cattle.
- Operate and clean milking equipment.
- Milk cows and monitor milk quality.
- Clean barns, milking parlors, and livestock areas.
- Monitor animal health and report illness or injuries.
- Assist with maintaining farm equipment and facilities.
- Handle feed, bedding, and other farm supplies.
- Follow animal welfare, biosecurity, and workplace safety regulations.
Important Skills:
A successful Dairy Farm Labourer should have physical strength and stamina, basic knowledge of dairy farming and animal care, attention to detail, good teamwork and communication skills, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Reliability, time management, adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and a strong commitment to animal welfare, hygiene, and workplace safety are also essential for success in this role.

Salary: 18.25 hourly / 40 hours per week
